Google announced the stable version of Android 13 for its Google Pixel lineup. While that is good, a number of OEMs are now trying to catch up to Google. Now, a number of OEM devices have joined the beta program for Android 13 early this year. Xiaomi is also one of the OEMs that have promised to roll out the beta version of Android 13 to a few of its devices. The latest Xiaomi device to receive the beta update to Android 13 is the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro.
This will be the first wave of updates for these devices. As of now, 200 users for each model will be able to take part in the beta update recruitment. Looking at how the stable version of Android 13 is already out, Xiaomi is preparing its devices with the beta for now. The beta update to Android 13 will be based on MIUI’ 13.
In order to get the Android 13 beta update on your Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, users have to first apply for the beta program by heading here. While you’ve done that, you also have to join this Telegram group which can be used to provide feedback or report any bugs that you face with the beta update. While filling up the form, ensure that you’ve entered the same Mi Account that is signed into your phone.
The Android 13 beta build number for Xiaomi 12 will be 13.0.4.0TLCMIXM and, for the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the build number is 13.0.4.0TLBMIXM. For both devices, the update will weigh in at 4.23 GB. You will also be getting the August security patch updates for the devices with the MIUI 13 based Android 13 beta.
Few things to keep in mind before you install the update.
- Back up all your data externally or to any cloud storage.
- You will be encountering a number of bugs that may or may not hamper your daily use.
- Should know how to recover the phone in case the update fails.
- If your device doesn’t turn on after the beta update, you can head over to the authorized Xiaomi service center.
To check for the beta update after applying for the recruitment, you can open the Settings app and tap on About Phone and finally, Check for Updates to see if the update is available for your device.
