The Galaxy A12 is one of the few popular entry level phones. Some time back, Samsung released the stable Android 12 based One UI 4.1 for the users in India. But the device is still running Android 11 in the US. And finally, after a long wait, the Android 12 update for Samsung Galaxy A12 is being released in the US.

Samsung Galaxy A12 is an entry level phone released in the last quarter of 2020 with Android 10 OS. Later in 2021, the phone received its first incremental update, Android 11. And the Android 12 update is the second major update for the phone and probably the last.

The new update based on One UI 4.1 is available for Galaxy A12 (SM-A125U) in the US. As of now, the update is available to Sprint and T-Mobile carrier locked models but it will be available for other models as well. The latest update comes with firmware version A125USQU3CVG4. And since it is a major update, you can expect its size to be bigger.

Coming to changes and improvements, you can expect a bunch of new features. However, the Android security patch is old despite the jump from June to July patch. In terms of new features, you can expect color palettes for material you design, privacy improvement, new widgets, and more. You can check out the common changelog by heading here.

As the update is currently available for the Sprint and T-Mobile carrier locked Galaxy A12, you might have to wait longer if you have a device from other carriers. Also, the OTA update is rolling out in batches like other OTA updates. You can check for the update by going to Settings > Software Update. Before updating your phone, make sure to take backup of your data and charge the device to at least 50%.
