Earlier this month Oppo shared Android 12 based ColorOS 12 rollout plan for this month. Oppo A53 is also on the roadmap. And as expected Oppo kicks off the Android 12 based ColorOS 12 beta program for Oppo A53. This means if you have a Oppo A53 you can finally experience Android 12 features. If you check the roadmap, it is mentioned April 19th for Oppo A53. But it’s on time as the Application for beta program is open till the 19th of April. Oppo A53 was released in 2020 with Android 10 out of the box. And later Oppo released the Android 11 update for Oppo A53 last year. The second major update to Android 12 will also be rolling out in a month or two as the Android 12 beta program is already here.
Oppo A53 Android 12 based ColorOS 12 beta program is live in India. It will be available in other regions but not anytime soon. The application is open from the 14th of April and will be live till the 19th of April. As usual, there are limited seats and this time it is 5000.
To apply for the Android 12 beta program, the device must be running on the required version which is C.22 in this case. So make sure to first update your Oppo A53 to C.22 before applying for the Android 12 based ColorOS 12 beta program.
The beta program will allow you to experience Android 12 features before the official release. Some of these features include new inclusive design, 3D textured icons, adopts Android 12-based widgets, new features for AOD, new privacy controls, and many other features. Apart from these changes, we can expect updated security patch levels and more stability across the system.
As this is a beta update, there can be bugs so we don’t recommend installing it on your primary phone unless you don’t mind bugs. And if you have any of the four phones as a secondary device then you can apply for the beta without any doubt.
If you are interested in trying the ColorOS 12 beta on your Oppo phone then you can apply for it following the given steps.
- First, makes sure your phone is running on the required version (C.22).
- Open the Settings app on your Oppo phone.
- Now head over to the Software update and click on the gear icon listed in the top-right corner.
- Now tap on Apply for Beta version > Update Beta Version.
- Enter the required details and submit the application.
Now your application has been submitted successfully. If there’s an empty slot (5000 seats) in the beta program, then you’ll receive the update within the 3 days. Before updating your phone to ColorOS 12 Beta, make sure to take a full backup of your phone and charge it to at least 50%.
